First six people to start helping out will compete automatically. If you're one of the two sitting out, don't give any input please!

I think we should use one of the orange rafts. We don't needs things scattered around, that's stupid. We need to focus on making a BIG signal in one point as opposed to having people "waving" from a raft, cause realistically no one would see them. If we use the bananas and mangoes [which are also too small to be seen from the sky, considering how little we have] as a dye to write on the blankets and sheets instead. Or we can use the blankets to create the shapes of the SOS and dye them with the fruits. We can use the rocks to keep things in their place. The firewood would create a fire, so we should add some smoke in, since that would attract attention. I am assuming we are picking a giant colorful suitcase, which means we can use the wheels/tubes to keep things together and we can tear apart the fabric to create more attention. Think pink or purple as those colors are going to be seen from the sky as there is nothing around in the beach that is that color.

I can be on hand to create the design tomorrow if needs be. I'm a little tired right now. I would better serve the team by meditating on the idea further.

Thank god you can help us with the graphic stuff, Coach, because I completely S-U-C-K at those things.
I think we need to focus on the message, so everything we have needs to have a purpose on the overall message, which is the S.O.S. Like Semhar says, colors is one of the most important things in the task because no ones flying from the sky expects to see a purple or pink flag in the middle of freaking nowhere. It definitely makes some attention.
Also, I think we need to use the fire in our advantadge, like putting it right in the middle of the O or something like that, because it's different and attention-worthy.

So the tarp is to be used to "write" the message in full. I like the idea of using the fruits as dyes, but bear in mind that we can use the burnt wood to etch into something if needs be.
What's the nature of the raft? Because a fire is something to gather attention but a floating fire will allow a wider spread of smoke. Would a fire constructed upon the raft cause a problem? We could have somebody on hand to take a blanket and create a pillar of smoke that encircles the shore. This would bring more attention.

Colors are key to this, I feel. The message needs to stand out. We have the opportunity to create a wealth of color here, so we should utilize it.
I will create the final image and post a sample tomorrow if everybody continues to discuss it. Sadly I'm not up to much right now beyond a few quick ideas which might be too far out there.

Coach, I love you. A floating fire is SUCH a genius idea, if we can find a way to logically make it happen, that would be fucking genius.
Actually, can a pot or a pan hold a fire? If we put the logs and everything, inside a large pot or a pan then we put that on the raft, would that work? I don't know how logical that sounds.

it would be like a make-shift hole. We would have ot put dirt in the container though, as the fire would burn through the pot.

I feel we could also use a blanket and rip it up into a flag shape with another S.O.S message on the flag. We could use an oar as well to tie the flag to so when using the raft and having the fire burning on the raft as well we could also have a signal flag too as well as the S.O.S signal on the beach. Just extra sign-age I guess
